Reading Club Book Drive, 2016-2017:
Once again, the Reading Club book drive was wildly successful! Well over 1000 books were donated, and every single book was given to students, grades K-12! Our wish is that every single student has a book to call his or her own, and this year Reading Club tried to make that happen, once again!

Disney Reading Day in the Elementary:
On May 21, 2015, the Reading Club went down to Mount Carmel Area Elementary School to read to first, second, and third grade classes. With a Disney-inspired theme, students were enthralled with the books choices by the club. After reading two stories to each class, all students in grades 1, 2, and 3 were given free books from the Reading Club.
The Reading Club Book Drive Makes the News for 2,000+ Books!
After a month of collecting books, Reading Club was amazed to see the outpouring of support from students and staff at MCA. Over 2,000 elementary books, young adult novels, adult reading, and informational text were collected! These items are already being turned into teacher classroom libraries, and there have been so many teachers coming down and congratulating the Reading Club for their efforts! The elementary and Pre-K level books are to be distributed to students in the MCA Elementary School On May 21, 2015 as part of Reading Club's initiative to inspire a love of reading over the summer! The Reading Club thanks all the people that made this possible!
April 17, 2015: A Poetry Event to Remember!
Today Reading Club, along with the honors and AP students of Mrs. Haden and Mrs. Yoder, had the unique experience of meeting an amazing poet originally from the Mount Carmel Area. Her newest publication series of poems, titled "Minuscule Boxes in the Bird's Bright Throat" is the third publication of Linda Tomol Pennisi. A professor and writer-in-residence, she chose to travel back to her roots for National Poetry Month to donate her newest publication to these students, read her poetry with them, and listen to their analysis and questions of her work. It was a phenomenal experience, and something our students will remember for years to come. Every student also had the ability to get their books signed by Linda, who graciously signed over 90 books! Here is a look at the publication, a signed page, and the Reading Club surrounding this wonderful poet!
